Our Little Liam

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Liam Lance Hill was born 2 weeks ago today, and we are all in celebration mode over here. He was born at 12:09, at 6.7lbs and 19 inches. We couldn't have been more thrilled to meet our little guy five days early!

There have been a lot of snuggling, kissing those perfect cheeks, and trying to figure out how to care for a teeny tiny human. Life is so good.

Here are a few favorite phone pics from the last 2 weeks-

This Pregnancy Thing

Saturday, April 12, 2014

Tomorrow marks 39 weeks. Sometimes, it feels like I've been pregnant for years. Other times, I start freaking out that this little man could come anytime and I reeeally don't feel ready at all.

Everyone knows about the downsides of pregnancy. In my case, it is nothing too out of the ordinary. Elephant feet/ankles, heartburn, back pain...blah. I'm sick of hearing and talking about it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to get on with it.

But want to hear about some of the good parts?

I love having this buddy with me all the time. It is so comforting. When I'm furious, happy, sad, you name it- it doesn't matter, a little kick of assurance always makes it a little better. Even to the ribs. And whatever I'm doing is usually put on hold, because there is nothing better than feeling those sweet squirms and kicks! It is such a miracle, and I will miss that part.

Long hair. Like, the longest in my life. I need to get it trimmed, but at this point it's a pride thing.

Waking up in the night to Alex's hand on my belly. That is a killer.

Nesting. (finally.) I've always been relatively clean, but never...like this. You should check out my closet drawers sometime.

VIP treatment in Brazil. This is a big one. Special parking spots, check out lines, and much more. The other day we showed up at a restaurant with at least an hour wait. But when they saw me (and it didn't take long) we were seated within 5 minutes. Now that is the life.

And really, nothing beats the "I'm 9 1/2 months pregnant" excuse. This move has been kinda rough (basically, everything broke after the first week here), but I'm finding all I have to do is explain my "dramatic" situation. "The baby could technically come at any time, so I really don't have time to wait around!" ...And POOF! A handyman shows up. I've never seen anything like it in Brazil. Magical.

So there you go. Don't you wish you were pregnant now? Haha.

The crib is set up. Nearly all the boxes are gone. Teeny tiny Gerber onesies are washed and carefully folded. We now have hot water, a working fridge, washer and dryer (have you heard the news that I used a dryer for the first time since August?? Because I've been telling everyone and their dog), and flooding is donezo. It cracks me up that internet was originally "the priority". It comes when it comes and I'm content. Best of all, the sunset each night from a 15th floor window is nothing short of spectacular. We're getting ready for you, mah dear!
